In 1.75.2 a change was made to report disk timeouts at a period that is either shorter than before or had not been set before at all. In turn it is throwing errors on nodes that previously indicated no problem because they weren’t being “caught” for being slow.

The problem related to disk slowness. We did not come to the common conclusion yet, but usually disks are slow on writes, if they: SMR used for something other (for example, more than one node on the same disk or using system disk for the node, etc.) network connected drive/network filesystem (SMB/CIFS, NFS, etc.) external disks The current suggestion is to check disk for errors and fix them. What you need to do is either improve the performance of the disk subsystem (do not use network filesystems, BTRFS, exFAT, NTFS under Linux, try to do not use SMR disks or try to migrate the USB disk to be internal) or increase a timeout.

So, if you have a read timeouts, you need to increase the readable timeout and readable interval (because they are equal 1m0s by default). If you have writeability timeout, you need to increase the writable timeout as well.

filestore.write-buffer-size: 128.0 KiB was the error, is set to 4MiB for the node that runs without dropouts.
