Is it possible to add more drives and expand

I noticed that this thread is active and that’s why I’m writing here, namely I’ve been following StorJ since V1 and @Alexey known from earlier, I had nodes back then. To exclude others, I currently have one computer under Windows exactly 451 days ago, balance Held amount $16.25, Total earned $96.97, Current month earnings $8.08, Node active almost 100%, I use Seagate Skayhawk AI, 2.5 MTBF, x2 raid 12Gb, allocated 10.3Gb for use. The computer itself uses the allocated 600/300 Gbps optics, all of which lead with M.2 1Tb. Power supply bequiet 1kw which in eco mode consumes only 22-26w. According to the Task manager, the disk is working at 50%, the processor at 20-30%. To me it all seems unprofitable as a nod, for users it is. Is it possible to add more drives and expand because I have 5 more SATA slots + 6 PCIs that can be converted to sata? Of course, I know how much I invested in all this, in the end out of pure curiosity. Or are there some better ideas, considering that this works without error and stoppage all the time. Best regards!

So you have a 12TB HDD and 10.3TB is given to Storj? If it’s full already I don’t see why you can’t spin up a second node another HDD. I think many people here expand every time they run out of space: to try to keep their monthly rewards growing. Good luck!

Hello @savic ,
Welcome back!

You may use this guide to add more nodes (we do not recommend to build RAID, unless you already have it):

The @Vadim’s Win GUI Storj Node Toolbox is pretty good to add additional native (Windows service) nodes without using docker.

I agree 1 node 1 HD is the way. Your variable is jarddrive size. Notes consume very little resources so multi core machines can host multiple nodes.

You actually may provide not the whole drive for Storj, only what do you want to allocate (provide), it’s up on you.

Yeah i know do not worry. I am an ex chia farmer so I can dedicatendrives no problem. Instead of turning on my netapps i am starting with a thin clietn with 4 cores 1 node and 1 drive per core hehe. Already filled up my first drive working on second just turn on and forget.

As a former chia miner the first thing one must realise is how small storj is. The entire real user data in this network is only like 17 PB before expansion and there are 25-30K active nodes waiting to get some peanuts from that.
