I understand what you’re saying. But after I got the initial email, I deleted my truenas backups and account immediately. Not that I was angry or dissatisfied (maybe a bit disappointed) but because of the extra costs (and before I forget about it, wouldn’t be the first time I forget about something and get confronted with it with the next bill). For me it wasn’t worth it, so I deleted everything (without complaining) before the correction was made.
I still like storj and the original idea behind it (don’t like select part but what I’m gonna do about it). I manage multiple nodes who are several years old and even was briefly part of the V2 network (long time ago). And before someone suggest I could use the earned crypto from my nodes to pay the bill: “I don’t like the hassle of crypto”. I check ones per month if the new payout did happen, but that’s it. Maybe ones a year I clear out my wallet, but at this point almost 2 years has past.
Why I’m a node operator when I don’t use the payout? Because the hardware is already running, online and available. And still like the idea of the public storj network (using unused space that’s already online). And again, the crypto is more of a hassle and time consuming burden. Maybe it’s time to automate those things for myself…

For now I don’t use storj anymore for my truenas backups, maybe I’ll come back (or not), who knows. For now I’m only a node operator and not a public network user and that’s okay.
