When I was younger, I was heavily into Competetive Team Tortress 2. I got older in the same pace that the game grew stagnant, and I’ve been pushed astray for quite a few years.
Then suddenly, a forum post dropped: TF2 was getting an update sized update. This was later pointed out as an error, and the post was changed, so that it reflected “a holiday sized update”. Naturally, my excitement for a revival of my old beloved one fell to the ground.
“Plenty of information” could totally justify “something is happening, and it’s not affecting the average SNO” - but let it be known that I’m as hyped for plenty, as I was for an update sized update! 
Is this grasping at straws? No!
Since the announcement I am unable to sleep…

This is the text that I’m waiting to see in that announcement:
“Great news everyone! We’ve secured an SOC2 certification for the public network. The Storj Select network will be deprecated going forward. We are very grateful for the Select SNOs that helped us through this transitioning period!”
Literally any text not copy-pasted as above, is completely irrelevant to me as an SNO.

Select SNOs never existed. 
Ah yes, I completely forgot that nodes have now become sentient and asked to be part of the Select network on their own.

In my opinion select is just rented storage space. Nodes are operated by storj.

A nice announcement would be: “Storj is pleased to announce that the entire Disney+ catalog is on Storj Global”, I think we’d be fine for a while…

As far as I remember they have never announced a customer in a similar way in the past. Like inside and outside of the forum. They have been rather reluctant to publish names. So it might not be an announcement regarding a specific customer.

“A new chapter” suggests something of durability and impact. Auditing of the global network would be indeed very nice and promising. Maybe they have found their VC partner or new shareholders and will be able to invest more into growth from now on. Or there is a new acquisition on the horizon.

I’m pretty sure Disney could buy Storj with pocket money and close it to competitors if they wanted to use it as an actual competitive advantage. Be careful what you wish for, it’s difficult to overestimate the scale of M&E industry household brand names like them.
