Reducing payout is not about saving storj money, it’s pennies anyway; it’s about stabilizing the network by removing unreliable nodes like yours. (unreliable in broad sense, it may be technically impeccable, but that does not mater if you randomly leave)
Who else’s decision is it? You make it sound as if you are a victim of circumstances, when in reality you gambled that you can make profit – and in most low cost of living areas it’s indeed still possible to make profit – which only reinforces my point that payouts are too high.
Storj was never meant to take your kids thought college. It’s meant to reduce your costs. Not make you profit.
All those who talk about “business of running storagenode” are wasting their own time chasing volatile “profits” that can vanish any time when that magical threshold is crossed due to circumstances beyond their control – currency drift, cost of living, energy prices, storj policies…
