I understand his words as this:

clients are not coming in
So far we have been told there are multi-petabyte customers in the sales pipeline but at least it appears no contract signed yet.:
Solu, After we have a signed contract how quickly could you spin up new nodes. That is one of the main discussions internally. How quickly can the network react to the news of a big deal. Is a forum post detailing a signed contract even enough, or will SNOs wait until their nodes are actually full before they add more capacity? Obviously these are important questions for us on the capacity planning side.
No. First of all I am not working in the sales team. If I would be passioned I could ask them to keep me up to date but all I would hear is “tomorrow we have the next call” followed by yet anouther call and so on. It never stops. I do like to hear about the sales process from time to time but this would be too much for me. Keeping it casual means I have enough information to be effective and more time for my real passion… Second there is no single contract. As far as I know the sales pipeline c…
Ok now I get it. The announcement is more about the growth we are expecting with or without signed deals. If they don’t get signed we have to keep uploading testdata for the next big customers. If the deals are getting signed there is no need to allocate twice as much capacity.

only real amount of data we every had was unpaid data
A large portion of the data stored in the past was free trial data customers did not pay Storj for:
A significant amount of defunct customer data is being planned to be removed as early as this weekend. The majority on EU1. As I understand it, these were free accounts that did not transition to paid after several months of being locked down. Some SNO’s may see a lot of data being deleted. It is important to note that this is not the same data that is being used on the Salt Lake servers and is not part of the ongoing testing.

or test data
And recently we see huge amounts of test data Storj does not get paid for either.
The Storj network is experiencing a pivotal transition from an innovative concept to a thriving platform, with paid storage growing at ~12%+ monthly and multiple 10+ PB prospects in active testing. This growth necessitates strategic expansion of our network capacity, performance, and geographic distribution. To address these needs, we’re implementing changes to incentivize proactive capacity expansion. These modifications aim to increase our total node count, enhance node connectivity and perfo…
Our internal dashboard is showing 7.6 PB at the moment. I would estimate that there is another 6 PB or so in the trash folder. So in total we should be at 13-14 PB. Our target is 20 PB. Just to give you an idea of what to expect. For your node you can simply assume that you are holding used space + trash and you will grow by another 50% or so (without us adding surge nodes). In 6 days your trash folder will get cleaned up. That will set us back a bit but we can still make it to the 20 PB just …
So from that view I think the quote you have picked is not totally inaccurate.
