Storj Credits for Startups

Hi,

I have been working with several startups as a consultant, helping them set up their server infrastructure. One challenge I’ve noticed is that many startup founders in India are unaware of Storj. When I introduced them to it, they were hesitant to adopt it because AWS offers startups $1,000 to $5,000 in credits. Naturally, they prefer AWS due to these credits.

However, as their data grows significantly, migrating away from AWS becomes prohibitively expensive. My suggestion is for Storj to offer credits to verified startups, similar to AWS. This would encourage startups to explore and integrate Storj into their infrastructure early on. To verify legitimate startups, you could partner with platforms like Startup India, as AWS does when granting credits after government approval.

From my experience, founders who have integrated Storj love the platform and consistently highlight how much they save on costs. Initially, some were skeptical due to the lower price point, worrying about potential compromises in quality. It can be challenging to explain that Storj’s affordability doesn’t mean a compromise on service, especially to those who lack technical expertise.

This is just my suggestion, and I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts on this.

Thank you!

Here is some resource that might help storj moderators to contact them

Yes, getting in contact with startups at an early stage would be a very good strategy so they can adopt the tech from the beginning and don’t have to switch later which causes friction and additional costs and other resources which startups often do not have:

Hello @odflix,
Welcome to the forum!

These startups can contact sales to negotiate this and get help to move faster.

I shared your idea with the team.

The startups can’t really contact sales, if they are unaware of StorJ entirely. I think this is a wonderful idea, to integrate StorJ tighter with startups!

Yes, startups would need to be made aware of Storj. But also the need to negotiate individually with sales is a hinderance. AWS does that better. They are present on startup events and they seem to have a program where it is easy to apply with lots of partners.

Maybe this reddit link is interesting:

Especially this comment:

You can get $10,000 credits for 2 years via large startup communities like BEAMSTART And E3. They have many events and conferences too where attendees can claim them.

If not mistaken anything higher than that is for accelerators / VCs. You can try apply for Antler or SOSV

So maybe Storj should offer some deals on https://beamstart.com/deals or else.
