I had disk failure on node with 3year history. Now starting new one and got 1tb of data after 3 days of node working. Why this happens? Storj is so popular among data storage services? Why my new node is so heavily trusted? Sorry for bad english.
Short answer is that Storj has decided to push a lot of test data into the network: both so they can tune performance, and to reserve capacity for some large customers who will (hopefully) arrive shortly.
The bad news is that most/all of that test data has a time-to-live of 30 days… so if they don’t constantly keep pushing fresh test data in… it will delete itself in a month and your node will get smaller.
