My Node is OFFLINE for 2 hours

the log must be recorded? I think these are old entries from May 2020, when I launched the node

Please check the size and date of the storagenode.log file.

Is the C: drive full?

Is it docker on Windows? or using the Windows installer?

windows installer

Thanks. All the content of this folder is old. Is there another StorJ folder in Program Files, or another ‘Storage Node’ folder?

You could also check under the services.msc properties:

This has been a firewall issue when I’ve seen it before. Have you recently installed Windows 10 20H2 update?

The open port test (Open Port Check Tool - Test Port Forwarding on Your Router) doesn’t work either:

I do not know, updates are installed automatically.

Ok, it could be a DNS issue as the name (node-2.storj.keenetic.name) shows two responses:

should I make another domain name?

Test with the IP address using the open port checker (Open Port Check Tool - Test Port Forwarding on Your Router). At the moment both IP addresses don’t show the port being open to the storagenode software.

OK. I changed the domain name, everything worked. thank you for help

Thank you @BrightSilence for a prompt help.

  1. I has the wrong ip set on the WAN IP on my router settings. which I updated.
  2. I checked if the port is setup correctly

Also, I used this command below to add the port and Ip address to allow the incoming traffic
sudo iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -s 76.64.225.102/26 --dport 28967 -m conntrack --ctstate NEW,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT

I am fairly new to the command language would really appreciate if you could elaborate on how to check if " * That means no filter on incoming IPs, forwarding to the IP of your node on the local lan. Set to TCP and port 28967.

  • If you’re running a firewall, make sure you allow incoming traffic on port 28967."

Lastly, I ran the command " docker exec -it storagenode ls -l /app/identity"
this is the results I got

This is a wrong command. It will lock your setup to accept requests only from that subnet, this rule will exclude all other addresses and your node will be offline, unless your router rewrite packets and replace the source to that subnet (unlikely).
Please, delete it:

sudo iptables -D INPUT -p tcp -s 76.64.225.102/26 --dport 28967 -m conntrack --ctstate NEW,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT

You need something like

sudo iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 28967 -m conntrack --ctstate NEW,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT
sudo iptables -A INPUT -p udp --dport 28967 -m conntrack --ctstate NEW,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT

I assumed that your policy for OUTPUT is ACCEPT by default, otherwise you would need to create OUTPUT rules as well (please note, that for OUTPUT the destination port can be any).

@Alexey I used the command you suggested to open the port,
“sudo iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 28967 -m conntrack --ctstate NEW,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT
sudo iptables -A INPUT -p udp --dport 28967 -m conntrack --ctstate NEW,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT”

I also, tried to restart the pi to check if that will make any difference. not still the port is showing to be closed.

Have you compared the WAN IP on your router with IP on Open Port Check Tool - Test Port Forwarding on Your Router ?
Are they matches?

Also, please show rules

sudo iptables -L

the results for the port check

Please, search for WAN IP on your router and make sure that it’s the same as on yougetsignal, otherwise the port forwarding will not work.

Since you have ufw installed, you do not need to manipulate iptables manually, you can do it with firewall.

sudo ufw status

If it’s enabled, then you could allow port in much more simple way:

sudo ufw allow 28967/tcp
sudo ufw allow 28967/udp

But it’s already allowed, so no modifications needed

I called my service provider to confirm, and I am using the correct WLAN IP and still the port is still showing to be closed

so finally I was able to figure out what caused the issue. The ip address was updated after my last restart and after I updated it the port finally seems to be working now.

However I am still getting this error below. Could be kind enough to please direct me to the right direction?? Do I need to use another Token Id/ Node id?
