If you have a forum, then figuring out what threads are important is too much of a burden.
If you put key topics in specific threads⌠then keeping up with those threads is too much of a burden.
If you summarize a thread to bullet points⌠figuring out which are important is too much of a burden.
If an expert explains which are important⌠then tracking when those experts have something new to say is too much of a burden.
If you sent notifications when experts have new commentary⌠then youâre spamming with too many updates⌠which is too much of a burden.
For some people: doing anything more than nothing⌠is too much of a burden

What âchatsâ? When will you start to read what people write here before answering? I am talking about a channel with announcements for SNO. No chats needed. This way, we wonât need to spend a lot of time monitoring every forum thread to not miss some important announcement. Ok, I am not surprised, continue to complain that the network doesnât have enough bandwidth and use ancient and inconvenient ways of communication. Pretty sure this will help Storj to get a lot of new SNOs.

All you need to read is the one single post that is right at the beginning of this thread. Then click on the user name and there you have exactly what you are looking for. Just 6 messages to read. Common try it. It is all there.

You should try it too. And you will see that half of these messages are just unrelated answers to other users and donât include any of your posts about tests, which are important for SNOs to understand why the load suddenly jumps high and low.

Oh so you are saying I should stop the user interaction? Because that is what you will get if you create a locked announcement channel. There would be 0 reason for me to post anything in that thread and my messages will be posted where ever the user interaction takes place.

I never said that. What I am saying is that most SNOs donât have time to sit here all day and read hundreds of posts. Brief announcements in a Telegram channel about what is happening and what to expect would be more than enough. Just post an announcement in Telegram and include a link to the forum thread for those who want to discuss it further. This is the best way, in my opinion. Donât open comments, donât create any chats, just a channel with news for SNOs. The forum will remain the one and only platform for discussions. However, for me as an SNO (and many others), it would be a great help to stay on track when I donât have time or the will to read forum threads.

Common this doesnât work. You are demanding that we spoon feed you. That is not going to happen. You can either read just 6 messages like you would in a locked annoucement channel or you can read the entire conversation like you would with a link to further discussion. We just have annoucement and further discussion in a single thread with the option that you can still decide if you want to read the locked version with just 6 messages or the complete discussion.

I donât see a problem. Use RSS reader if you want, discourse has rss feeds for everything.

Why would anyone want yet another account, let alone this telegram crap, when discourse already exists, works, and supports all these usecases.

The only thing I would accept would be Discord, because it has good tools to moderate and provides a quick way to text people.
There are up und dowsides. But if itâs needed is another thing.
It costs more time for the Admins and provides a new way, how people can get scammed and so on.
I personally donât think that Storj needs a instant manager to âjust announce newsâ. It would not bring any good.
I too want to reserve instant messenger to text with people and something like this forum for announcements and error troubleshooting. Itâs easy to search and provides a good platform for anyone who is new and donât require an account to search topics
I usually skip past those, the first reply after those posts is the most interesting
