July 11, 2024, June payouts complete, and deprecation of zkSync Lite/Legacy

Hello! Payouts for the completed month of June are done.

zkSync Era

zkSync Era payments went off without trouble again this month; we paid 307 unique addresses, which is once again the most yet! zkSync Era adopters received a 3% bonus and were paid out if they cleared the minimum payout threshold, which appears to have been at least $0.12.

You can opt into zkSync Era adding the following to your config file:

operator.wallet-features: ["zksync-era"]

or to your commandline:

--operator.wallet-features=zksync-era

zkSync Lite/Legacy

zkSync Lite, on the other hand, had many difficulties.

Three months ago, we said that we intended to disable support for zkSync Lite/Legacy and only support zkSync Era going forward. The time has now come, as this month, there was insufficient trading volume with STORJ token in automated pools for zkSync Lite to support paying fees with STORJ. STORJ is no longer accepted as a fee payment mechanism for zkSync Lite, and our automated tooling needs to change to support paying in fees besides STORJ.

So, everyone who had opted into zkSync Lite still got a 3% bonus, but had transactions sent over layer 1, subject to the minimum payment threshold (details below). These payments were not combined with other layer 1 payments, as the other layer 1 payments had already completed when we made this decision.

If you’re interested in more details on this issue, there was some related discussion on this GitHub reference here: zkSync Lite - paying for a transfer with a different fee token · zkSync-Community-Hub/zksync-developers · Discussion #618 · GitHub. We did spend a bit of time attempting to get zkSync Lite payments out with another fee token, but in the end our already announced deprecation plans won out.

Going forward, assuming STORJ token remains unavailable for fee payment (you can check the status on this page: Explore zkSync Lite L2 Blockchain | zkSync Lite Block Explorer), future payouts will no longer respect zkSync Lite preferences. Future payouts will simply choose your preference between zkSync Era and Layer 1.

Layer 1

So, for layer 1 payments, we paid 2,945 unique wallet addresses. There is no specific minimum payment threshold but it appears that for standard payouts, the pipeline was able to pay out for people who earned $4.78 or more.

A reminder that the minimum payout threshold is currently set such that fees cannot exceed 25% of the transferred amount.

zkSync Era support in Storj Satellite reminder

As a reminder from two months ago, if you’ve been waiting, we now support paying your Storj account (on us1.storj.io , ap1.storj.io, or eu1.storj.io) via zkSync Era! Note that we did not and do not intend to add support for zkSync Lite, so be careful of the distinction. Nonetheless, you can now use your storage node earnings to pay your Storj bill if you have one via zkSync Era.

Cost basis tool

Just a reminder that if you want to know the amount of USD a particular storage node payment transaction was considered denominated in, please check out our cost basis tool. You’ll need to enter your payment transaction:

Final thoughts

Across all layers, we paid 3,245 unique addresses. As always, if you have more questions, please make sure you’ve read through our mega FAQ.
